The wait is over. Salem Mashriqi has opened Hamza & Madina Halal Foods indoors, at 217 Bethpage Rd Hicksville NY 11801, store 27. The new spot is just a five-minute drive north of the location of their food cart at 10 West Cherry Street, which will continue on as before.
The advantages to Hamza fans are obvious, though the move comes after a long period of subtle harassment by the local officials, who frequently ticketed the cart over issues that had no merit. CENE reported on this last year.
You can expect the same offerings at the new location, with all platters selling for $5.99, and Gyros for $5.
Additional good news: the famous “Got White Sauce?” is now for sale for $5 per bottle. And the T Shirts that you see the team wearing are available for $10, with hoodies soon to be available at $15.
Me: “That’s all you’re charging?”
Salem: “I take care of my customers.”
