Stinky’s Collectibles: The Comic Shop for Nerds
Back in 2011, I heard of a comic event that was centered around one of my favorite super heroes: Spider-Man.
Quick Nerd fact: This is the same Spider-Man from the Ultimate Universe – not the one from the main 616 Universe.
Any who, I was behind on a few issues and wanted catch up. That’s when I decided to drop in on a local comic book shop in Seaford called Stinky’s Collectibles. It wasn’t the first time, I’d been going to Stinky’s from when I was younger and wanted pick up a few comic issues here and there.

This time was serious business. After hearing about Spider-Man, my interest in collecting comics was reignited and Stinky’s was the closest comic shop I knew of. So, with Ultimate Universe Spiderman on my mind, I ventured over to Stinky’s where the owner Ted helped me find all the back issues that I had missed so far.
After finding the missing issues, I asked Ted when the next Spiderman event issue would be published. For those that don’t know comics, every week new comics are released on Wednesday. Because I was interested in more than just one or two comics a week, Ted offered to create what is called “pull list” for me. That meant that each week I would tell Ted which issues I wanted and he would ‘pull’ the comics for me. Then I could walk into the store and be able to have all my choices ready for me to buy. Week-after-week it was buy, rinse, and repeat.
So far, in 5-years, I haven’t missed a week.
Stinky’s Collectibles on display
Besides Stinky’s, there are other big comic book stores out there like Midtown, or Forbidden Planet, both in New York City. For me, I’ve been lucky to find a store that accommodates my week-to-week purchases, isn’t far away from home, supports local businesses, as well as print (which shows that not all things have to go digital).
Over the last 5-years, the owner of Stinky’s has become a friend with whom I can talk shop to whenever I go in. In fact, I frequent Stinky’s Collectibles so much, my Mom started buying me gift certificates for my birthday and Christmas.
That’s why; if you’re a Nerd like me looking for a solid comic book shop where you can get what you ask for, Stinky’s Collectible is a number one choice.
